About PhilCCAP

The Philippines Climate Change Adaptation Project is undertaking several adaptation activities in three sites across the country, with the aim of developing and demonstrating approaches that would enable targeted communities to adapt to the potential impacts of climate variability and change. The project is divided into four components:

Component 1 focuses on two main goals: improving the government's capacity in formulating coherent and formidable climate change policy and establishing a venue for an efficient exchange of climate information among stakeholders, initially government agencies.
Component 2 involves the demonstration of several adaptation techniques -- climate-proofing irrigation infrastructure, strengthening extension* services by including climate change adaptation techniques and technologies, introducing a weather-index based insurance scheme and improving the management of protected areas.
Component 3 aims to improve access of end users in the agriculture and natural resources sectors to more reliable scientific information, more rapid and accurate decision-making for climate risk management.
Component 4 deals with ensuring the smooth, efficient and effective management of the project through an adequate and sustained to project steering involving decision makers, persons in day-to-day project operations and other stakeholders.
